il sogno is a family owned and operated restaurant serving honest Italian and modern cuisine of the highest standard. Only the freshest and best produce is sourced to create our menu that is both affordable and of the highest quality.
Owners John and Anthony Giarratana share a passion for family, friends and food, the important things in life. That is why owning a family restaurant is to them a dream, which is how the restaurant name was derived – il sogno

Experience
Chef/owner Anthony Giarratana has years of experience working at and with the best both in Italy and Australia. Initially; formally trained at Il Bacaro under Riccardo Momesso and then after qualifying at a number of fine dining establishments in Melbourne locally and also Italy. These included Grossi Florentino with renowned Chef Guy Grossi and in Sorrento, Italy
Our menu at il Sogno features an assortment of delicately prepared dishes including traditional home-made fresh pasta -made daily – as well as beautifully cooked Italian risottos, meats and seafood all presented with the his team’s modern accents.
We always have an eye for fresh seasonal produce to enable seasonal highlights in our selections and subject to availability truffles (black and white), white asparagus and these offers are featured daily on our specials selections in house.

Located in Surrey Hills just 20k from the city – il sogno our little restaurant holds just 50 people. Our decor is from drawn from our personal times in Italy including photo’s from our home town – Sorrento on the Bay of Naples. We hope this contributes to a background of understanding of our roots and experiences.
il sogno offers a warm casual elegant setting – we try hard to make you feel at home, whether it be for lunch, dinner for two or more – you are all our guests. Come, share our dream at il sogno.

Food was amazing. Chicken saltimboca was juicy and well seasoned. Arancini was crisp on the outside and moist on the inside. Do be mindful that they are a BYO only restaurant, so you'll need to bring your own bottle of wine. Thank you for a lovely dinner. We'll be seeing you again.
